PHOENIX — Maricopa County’s Tent City Jail is turning 20 on Saturday and to mark the occasion there will be a party for the inmates.
Candy cigarettes, magazines, dinner, a movie and cake are on the agenda.
“It’s a celebration we all deserve,” Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
The facility at 29th Avenue and Durango Street has been in operation regardless of weather conditions. According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, the jail can house just over 2,000.
