SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A benefit golf tournament is being held in honor of the fallen Yarnell firefighters.
“We’re having a nice event here at the club. We sold out quick, which was great,” Gainey Ranch Golf Club General Manager Jim Murphy said. “We’ve got 160 players, we’re going out late in the day, play nine holes, come in for some food and cold drink. Then we’ll have speakers and check presentation.”
One of the speakers expected to address the group is the only living member of the Granite Mountain Hotshots Crew, Brendan McDonough.
Organizers expect with the money raised from this sold out tournament, an online auction, along with fundraising efforts at over 80 golf pro shops across the state, they’ll exceed their goal of $100,000.
Every dollar will benefit the families of the fallen firefighters.
