Phoenix-based online-coffee shop wins big prize from TV show

PHOENIX – MistoBox, a local online-coffee shop has won a $75,000 prize from ABC’s “Shark Tank.”

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, MistoBox co-founders Connor Riley, 23, and Samantha Meis, 24, won $75,000 for impressing Mark Cuban, a business magnate and owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.

“Having Mark Cuban invested in our company gives us credibility and a veteran resource with business insight and expansive networks,” said Riley.

The company not only sells artisan coffee beans from regional coffee roasters, but also sells coffee makers, mugs, water kettles and coffee filters.

“Our goal is to get people to go from Starbucks to micro-roasted artisan coffees,” Riley said. “The taste and the way the coffee is sourced is better (with artisan coffee), and farmers get paid more than what the bigger coffee roasters pay.”

The money they received was used to add one more employee and promote their business.
