PHOENIX — Rest easy: The sound of sirens in the West Valley on Tuesday will be simple testing of Palo Verde Nuclear plant’s alert system.
The Maricopa County Emergency Management also posted the note on its government site.
The yearly emergency-alert test at the plant just west of Phoenix will blast at noon and 12:30 p.m.
The facility near Tonopah is about 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix. Arizona Public Service operates the station.
Sirens are part of a system required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
