PHOENIX — Responding to reports that convicted murderer Jodi Arias was living a “cushy” life in prison, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio allowed a glimpse into her living conditions on Thursday.
Arpaio allowed reporters inside the Estrella Jail, an all-female maximum security facility, to see Arias’ 12-foot-by-7-foot cell.
“There’s been a lot of misinformation about this jail system and I want to let the media and the public know what the truth is on how this sheriff and my officers run the jail,” said Arpaio.
Arias is confined to the cell for 23 hours per day. She’s allowed one hour to shower and make calls. She’s not allowed to watch television or listen to the radio.
Other than drawing, Arias can read books and newspapers for entertainment.
