PHOENIX — Jodi Arias is now eligible to receive the death penalty after jurors ruled Wednesday that the 2008 killing of Travis Alexander was especially cruel.
Had jurors felt that the killing was not excessive, Arias would have only been eligible for life in prison.
A sentence has not been handed down, but Wednesday’s ruling means the jury can now consider the death penalty or life in prison.
Arias was found guilty of first-degree murder on May 8 of the 2008 murder of Alexander, her then boyfriend.
