PCH releases app designed to help kids

PHOENIX — Do you need something that might calm your child’s fears about being in the hospital?

There’s an app for that.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital unveiled a free app on Tuesday called “Simply Sayin.'” It explains medical terms in kid-friendly language.

Dr. Tony Lee said the app has several features.

“There’s a glossary that defines terms,” he said. “There’s sounds where you can actually hear certain machines, like an MRI machine, to make things easier for them. More importantly, there are illustrations that are kid-friendly.”

Those illustrations help the doctors show the kids what is actually going to be done during their upcoming procedure.

The app is available in English now and will also be in Spanish next week. The app for Apple iOS is available now. A spokesman for PCH said it should be ready for Android users within a couple of months.
