Sen. John McCain did not put his support behind a possible effort to impeach President Barack Obama over the Benghazi situation.
According to the Huffington Post, McCain said he wasn’t willing to talk impeachment yet.
“With all due respect, I think this is a serious issue,” said McCain on ABC’s “This Week.” “I will even give the president the benefit of the doubt on some of these things. We need a select committee.”
McCain also said he did not feel that Obama had committed impeachable offenses at a February town hall.
The question stemmed from Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.)’s comments on Thursday that Obama covered up events in Benghazi and that people may start talking about impeachment.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee echoed Inhofe’s sentiments last week.
