PEORIA, Ariz. — The City of Peoria may allow high school students to be part of city council meetings if it approves a new proposal.
“Give them a good, quality experience so they grow up to be productive adult of society. That’s really what the Youth Master Plan is looking to do,” said Kevin Naughton with the City of Peoria.
Students wouldn’t get to vote, but they would sit with council during meetings, have access to council packets, meet with members and offer input. If approved, students will begin their work when school resumes in the fall.
The Peoria City Council approved the Youth Master Plan in November 2012. The mission of the program is to get community partners to work together to create a culture where kids are safe valued and involved.
