PHOENIX — Three children and two adults are in the hospital in serious condition after a car accident Monday morning at 36th Street and Southern Avenue.
Two of the children are critical, according to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman. All of the children — two boys and a girl — are 4 and younger and were riding with their 20-something-year-old mother.
The driver of the other car, a man in his 20s, was alone. Police say he displayed signs of alcohol and drug impairment and a warrant was
obtained for a blood sample.
Authorities say he lost control of his Mitsubishi Galant, struck a curb and
slammed into the car carrying the mother and her three young children. The male driver sustained non-life
threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the Galant will be charged.
