A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after threatening to shoot up two East Valley schools on Facebook, police said.
The suspect posted the threats on Facebook Wednesday morning. Students took screenshots of the threats and gave them to the Gilbert Police Resource Officer at Mesquite High School.
Police said the boy made threats to shoot people at both Mesquite Junior High School and Mesquite High School in Gilbert.
After working with police, both schools determined there was no immediate danger and did not evacuate. Police did increase their presence at the schools as a precaution.
The suspect later posted apologies, saying he did not mean the threats. A search warrant was served at his home.
