KTAR exclusive: Meghan McCain responds to Ann Coulter’s death threat blog

LISTEN: Meghan McCain

Meghan McCain spoke with News/Talk 92.3 KTAR’s Mac & Gaydos Thursday in an exclusive interview to respond to Ann Coulter saying McCain should be killed in a recent blog post.

Coulter wrote:

“MSNBC’s Martin Bashir suggested that Republican senators need to have a member of their families killed for them to support the Democrats’ gun proposals. (Let’s start with Meghan McCain!)”

The blog was pulled from Fox News’ site shortly after publication, but it was still available on Coulter’s official website.

McCain told Mac & Gaydos she was with her mother, Cindy McCain, when she found out about the comments and had to look them up for herself. She believes it’s a vindication of her argument that far left and far right advocates are only concerned with the movement of their agenda and will demonize those that can find any sort of middle ground or at least have a conversation about one.

“Ann Coulter — as much as I hate to be giving her more publicity and having her name come out of my mouth right now because that’s all she really wants because she’s a ’90s relic that no one listens to anymore — I just can’t imagine gaining any kind of attention by saying ‘I need to kill someone’ or ‘This person should be murdered’ in order for an agenda, or whatever she was trying to say, which I still don’t understand because I don’t speak ‘crazy’,” said McCain.

Though McCain is hoping these comments will be ignored, she admits to being somewhat fearful of Coulter’s followers.

“I read enough crap on Twitter to know that there’s enough crazy people that maybe would listen to Ann Coulter and say, ‘Maybe if I go kill Meghan McCain I will please Ann Coulter and the far right movement.’

“I think it’s an f-ed up thing to do,” she said.

Although McCain isn’t planning any legal action, Coulter should be worried about some sort of retaliation or blowback from her comments. When asked how her father, Sen. John McCain, felt about Coulter’s comments, the younger McCain simply said, “He’s pissed too.”

After her interview, McCain took to Twitter to further discuss Coulter’s comments.

McCain also tweeted that she “couldn’t imagine living a life that seems so void of love, compassion, and perspective” because she is dedicated to making the world a better place.

Meghan McCain is a weekly guest with News/Talk 92.3 KTAR’s Mac & Gaydos on Tuesdays at 3:15 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
