Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe prepares to open a second location in Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the bookstore will replace Beef Eaters restaurant, a business that opened in 1961 and closed in 2006.
The bookstore, in collaboration with Venue Projects real estate firm and Beckett’s Table eatery, has decided to dedicate the redevelopment plan’s name, the Newton, to the former 17,200-square foot building occupants.
“It is our belief that beyond the debris, disrepair and aged condition, the existing property has a worthy history in the community and good architectural bones to substantiate its preservation,” said Lorenzo Perez, co-founding partner of Venue Projects.
Changing Hands’ forthcoming structure will feature a Beckett’s restaurant and Lively Hood, a business that provides conference areas to professionals in social settings.
The Tempe bookstore is located at McClintock Drive and Guadalupe Road.
