Arizona, Vermont ranked most gun-friendly states

A magazine found Arizona to be one of the top supporters for gun rights in the U.S.

According to The Washington Times, Guns & Ammo magazine ranked the states with the best and worst Second Amendment liberties. The rating scale calculated from a zero to 10, wherein a state could hypothetically reach a perfect score of 50.

Guns & Ammo rated five areas for its 2013 report: open-carry and concealed-weapons laws, modern sporting rifle laws, machine-gun and short-barrel-rifle laws, stand-your-ground and similar defense laws, and the general political and cultural atmosphere for gun rights.

Arizona, along with Vermont, recorded the highest scores with 49 points. The District of Columbia and New York ranked lowest with a grade of seven.
