The City of Mesa raised over $125,000 from a number of charitable events in 2012.
The largest fundraiser, the 2012 Community Spirit Annual Fund Drive, produced $100,881 for the Mesa United Way. The Tutu Tuesday fundraiser also raised more than $6,800 for the American Cancer Society and Cancer Care for breast research by having approximately 500 people wearing tutus.
“City of Mesa employees are extremely generous and the events we held during the past year prove it,” Mesa City Manager Chris Brady said in a release. “Employees have always found fun and interesting ways to raise funds and awareness about numerous agencies which greatly benefit our community.”
Other events including Great Turkey Tuesday, which donated 529 turkeys to the United Food Bank, took place over the past year.
