PHOENIX — The 100 Club of Arizona said it’s committed to helping Phoenix Police officer Peter Bennett.
The 36-year-old officer was shot multiple times Sunday evening. Bennett underwent surgery on Monday and is in recovery.
Created in 1968, the mission of the nonprofit organization is to provide financial assistance to family of police officers and firefighters who are killed or hurt in the line of duty.
“Money can’t make the pain go away, can’t make you heal overnight, but it can certainly allow you to get some relief,” said the club’s executive director, Sharon Knutsen-Felix.
