Man sets gas station on fire when he tries to kill spider (VIDEO)

Sep 28, 2015, 12:44 PM | Updated: 1:43 pm

It’s commonly known that gas and fire can create an explosion, but apparently one man’s fear of spiders caused him to temporarily forget that, as he tried to set fire to a spider sitting on his car’s gas tank.

It couldn’t have ended well for the spider. It definitely didn’t end well for the gas station.

Video footage shows a man in Michigan man spotting the eight-legged-terror and pulling out a lighter. Even the spider was thinking, “Dude, what are you doing??!”

As soon as the flame makes contact with the gas tank, a fire quickly spreads around the gas pump.

The man manages to get himself and his car out of the fire’s path.

Gas station employee Susan Adams was working when it happened and told the Michigan Fox news station that, “he didn’t have a cigarette. He didn’t have anything on him, so all of a sudden I looked out and I see flames,” she said.

Adams added that the man said he was sorry.

“… he said he didn’t know. It is just one of those things that happen — stupidity,” she said.

The firestarter was not seriously injured, and damage to the gas station was limited to the one pump, the report said.

There has been no official word on the spider’s condition.
