Sen. John McCain said he is significantly troubled after meeting with U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on Tuesday.
“We are significantly troubled by many of the answers that we got and some that we didn’t get,” said McCain of the meeting to discuss the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
McCain said the initial explanation given by Rice shortly after the attack misled the American populace.
“It is clear that the information that she gave the American people was incorrect when she said that it was a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a hateful video,” McCain said. “It was not and there was compelling evidence at the time that that was certainly not the case.”
Rice also met with Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte. Both also criticized Rice’s initial explanation.
