A Tempe man is behind bars after allegedly breaking into 17 homes.
Tempe Police Department arrested 24-year-old Michael Tolley in connection with a series of burglaries that took place between Sept. 16 and Oct. 29 near Mill Avenue and Baseline.
“Our detectives saw where Mr. Tolley lived and they saw all these crimes that were happening…all in the same area,” said Mike Pooley with Tempe Police Department.
Court paperwork showed Tolley admitted to committing 17 burglaries in his own neighborhood. He told police he would sell the items he stole on Craigslist to help pay for his meth addiction.
Tolley said he committed the crimes between midnight and 4:00 a.m. because he liked being inside the house and watching people.
Pooley said that smaller, easier to carry items were taken like purses, cell phones and laptops.
Tolley faces 10 counts of trafficking stolen property and 17 counts of burglary.
