Valley “Survivor” fans will get another chance to see Scottsdale resident Joe Anglim compete for a $1 million prize.
Anglim, a 25-year-old jewelry designer, will be returning to the show for a second time in Season 31, dubbed “Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance.”
Season 31 premieres Wednesday night on CBS, and is the first to feature returning “Survivor” contestants picked by fans, according to a the network’s description of the season.
For some returners, “it’s been a decade since they first competed in the game,” according to the website.
During Season 30, Anglim created a fake immunity idol – an item granting contestants the ability to avoid elimination – as a strategy, becoming one of his most memorable moments.
During an interview with Parade magazine, Anglim said the action may cause this season’s contestants to think he’ll do it again.
“Everyone knows that I made a fake idol, so they’re going to be watching for that,” he said. “These are smart people.”
But he said he may pull the same stunt again.
Anglim’s family moved from Queen Creek to Scottsdale in 2004, according to an interview with the Scottsdale Independent.
In a CBS biography, Anglim described a Northern Arizona University indoor volleyball win as his “personal claim to fame.” The Lumberjacks beat the top-rated team in a Las Vegas tournament.
