One group of Latino teens and young adults are determined to make a difference in their communities.
“Trying to make change in our community and if we can’t vote, we at least want to educate our community about the importance of voting,” said Rosa Cabezas, 20.
Cabezas is a Dreamer. She cannot legally participate in the voting process, but has spent countless hours hitting predominantly Latino neighborhoods, encouraging residents to take part in the election process.
She is joined by dozens of other young volunteers who are part of the organization, Promise Arizona in Action, an organization that promotes civic engagement.
According to Promise leaders, this election year they have registered over 34,000 voters.
“We speak for our families. If we elect people that are going to create change, it’s really motivating,” said Cabezas.
