D-backs going for world record, foster care awareness

A group of Arizona Diamondbacks employees will be stringing up 30,000 paper dolls at Chase Field to raise awareness about the foster care system in the Valley on Saturday, setting a world record at the same time.

D-backs Executive Vice President Cullen Maxey said the goal of the even goes beyond breaking the current record of 27,000 paper dolls.

“The end result of this project, one of the things they would like to do is actually fund some renovations at [Child Protective Services] and give dollars to their mentoring program,” he said.

Volunteers who want to help staple and hang the paper dolls are asked to arrive at Chase Field on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
