If you’ve ever considered a career in teaching, think about making a difference in some of the poorest classrooms in the state. Arizona Teaching Fellows is a Phoenix non-profit organization that helps qualified professionals interested in transitioning to teaching get certified.
Senior Program Operations Manager Erin Krapf says the organization is recruiting future teachers of all ages. “We recruit across the country individuals who are career changers. They might be recent college graduates or individuals who are retiring or coming back from the military.”
Krapf says all trainees are placed in high-poverty schools throughout the state. “Arizona is definitely at the bottom of where we need to be to address the needs of students who have the greatest challenges and having those high quality teachers in their classroom.”
They will be accepting applications starting October 29, 2012 for the next training session. For more information log on to arizonateachingfellows.ttrack.org.
