MCSO busts pot operation in Surprise

An hydroponic marijuana lab was discovered by deputies in Surprise on Wednesday, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
Deputies were called to the area of 11417 W. Pinehollow Dr. after a a strong odor of marijuana was reported.
While serving a search warrant, deputies found 48 plants in various stages of growth, about five pounds of packaged marijuana and elaborate growing equipment.
The value of the marijuana recovered is estimated to be $10,000.
Deputies arrested David J. Bell, 50, and James McGuire, 42. Both suspects have medical marijuana cards, but did not have the appropriate licenses for growth and distribution.
Both suspects were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on various marijuana-related charges.
