The “third baseball season” is about to get under way in the Valley.
The Arizona Fall League celebrates the start of its 20th anniversary season today. The six-team league features elite prospects from all 30 Major League Baseball clubs. Spring training ballparks throughout the area host the games, which are played every day of the week except Sundays.
The teams featured are the Mesa Solar Sox, Phoenix Desert Dogs, Scottsdale Scorpions, Peoria Javelinas, Salt River Rafters and the Surprise Saguaros. The Diamondbacks are affiliated with the Salt River team.
The season runs through mid-November, with the championship game on Nov. 17.
