PHOENIX — Looking for something to do this weekend in the Valley? The list below offers a few options.
Chandler is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual mariachi fest on Saturday. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Tickets start at $20.
Arizona blues icon Big Pete Pearson is at the Desert Botanical Garden on Friday. Nobody sings the blues like Big Pete. He takes the stage at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $15.
‘Run What Ya Brung’ Drag Racing
If you’ve always wanted to drag race, now’s your chance. For just $20, you can bring whatever car you want out to Firebird International Raceway on Friday, and do some drag racing. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Dine with the chefs at the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts. Sample all kinds of dishes: from soups and salads to appetizers and desserts with some of the Valley’s best chefs. The event runs Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Comedian and reality-show host Joe Rogan is at Stand Up Live! all weekend. Tickets are $25.
Think of it as Mardi Gras on a bicycle. The Tour de Fat is at Tempe Beach Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Put on your favorite costume or funniest clothes and ride around with the rest of the cycling crazies.
