Phoenix police officers get new, heavier uniform

After orders from Police Chief Daniel Garcia, all officers will be wearing a formal dark blue uniform starting Oct. 1.
The uniform is said to be heavier and hotter unlike the black uniform they used to wear.
Crane said the union has filed an unfair labor practice complaint.
“We as a stakeholder should have been involved on the front end of this instead of the chief just unilaterally deciding to eliminate it and then telling us after the fact,” said Ken Crane with the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association.
Crane said that the officers are professionals and taking the change in stride today even though many disagree with the decision.
