Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is under investigation by Phoenix police in connection with an alleged hit-and-run accident, something he said was not a big deal.
“Pulling out of a parking space in March, I bumped into somebody’s bumper,” he said. “I didn’t think there was damage and so I didn’t leave my name to pay for it. I would have been happy to pay for it if I thought there was damage. I’ve sent a letter to County Attorney Bill Montgomery asking for the name of the person and I would happy to pay for the damage. We haven’t heard back but I stand ready to pay for it.”
The hit-and-run case is part of the FBI’s investigation into Horne’s alleged campaign finance violations.
Horne said the accusations that he broke campaign laws are “totally false.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, in a statement, said it is not investigating Horne.
