Arizona Restaurant Week kicks off

Sep 14, 2012, 8:42 AM | Updated: 8:43 am

PHOENIX — Highly anticipated by Valley foodies, Arizona Restaurant Week kicks off Saturday.

It’s a biannual event where consumers have the opportunity to dine at one of hundreds dining establishments for a low cost.

“Consumers can go out and dine in new restaurants they may not have tried or their favorite for either $30 to $40,” said Steve Chucri with the Arizona Restaurant Association. “That allows you to get an entree, appetizer and dessert. In some cases, they’ll throw in a glass of wine. Some are even talking about a bottle of wine.”

According to the event’s website, “Arizona Restaurant Week’s goal is to position Arizona as one of the top culinary destinations in the nation by increasing awareness of the many dining opportunities available in the state, as well as stimulating business and revenue for restaurants throughout Arizona.”

Chucri said the weeklong event allows a lot of Arizonans to experience restaurants that would normally not make a lot of fiscal sense.

“Going and having a nice steak dinner or going to white tablecloth, five-star restaurant, isn’t in everybody’s budget,” he said. “What this week allows people to do is make it attainable and that’s why, I think, it’s received the fanfare that it has.”

We want to hear from you.
