A Saturday event is hoping to teach families how to keep their children out of jail.
Families from the South Mountain area, which has the largest number of children in the juvenile court system, are invited to attend the summit at Greenfield Middle School near Seventh Street and Buckeye.
Maricopa County Juvenile Court Judge Eddward Ballinger said it is important for families to attend and learn how to hep their kids before they enter the court system.
“We have trouble getting adults to come down to some of our hearings and we want to encourage families and let them know how important it is for them to be with their child if the child should ever be involved in the juvenile court system and make them comfortable with that,” he said.
Ballinger said the summit will also let parents know about resources that are available for children in the court system.
The summit beings at 8:30 a.m.
