Most people expect to find prices on items when they go shopping at the mall, but that’s not the what inspectors discovered over the summer.
The Arizona Department of Weights and Measures found 23 kiosks in four Valley malls did not price their items.
“This is not a barter system,” said Shawn Marquez with the department. “You’re required by state law to have prices on items exposed for sale and that’s one of the reasons we were out there this time checking the mall kiosks.”
Marquez said the inspection revealed that, for the most part, kiosks either had prices on nothing or everything.
“What it does [when things aren’t priced], it doesn’t leave anything for the consumer as far as value comparison,” he said.
Marquez said Superstition Springs Center and Scottsdale Fashion Square had the most violations, while Desert Sky Mall and Christown Mall had the least.
