A Chandler hospital has agreed to help an Ahwatukee woman lower her massive hospital bill due to her receiving treatments for a sting.
The Chandler Regional Hospital said in a release that it will work with the insurer of Marcie Edmonds, who was given Anascorp as treatment for a scorpion sting, but not told of the high out-of-network cost.
Edmonds, 52, said she was billed more than $83,000, including two $40,000 doses of Anascorp.
Edmonds’ insurer, Humana, has already paid Chandler Regional about $57,000, leaving her with a $25,000 bill.
The hospital said it is investigating its pricing for Anascorp.
