Illegal alien arrested with $20K, guns, meth

A suspected illegal alien was arrested Monday for allegedly being in possession of a large amount of cash, some drugs and two weapons, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.
The police were first notified when, the suspect, named as Abraham Ortega-Leyva, was seen jumping into the backyard of a Litchfield Park residence.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a duffel bag containing 1.5 lbs. of crystal methamphetamine, .82 lbs. of heroin, about $20,000 in cash, a loaded AR-15 assault rifle with a high-capacity magazine and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.
Ortega-Leyva was identified by witnesses as the man they had seen in the area several times.
Ortega-Leyva was found at a nearby home and attempted to flee police. He was apprehended nearby. While being arrested, he told police he was in the country illegally.
Ortega-Leyva was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail and faces multiple felony charges.
