PHOENIX — Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a body early Wednesday morning along the Salt River.
No identification has been made, but earlier this week Joshua Williams, 22, disappeared while tubing the river with friends.
The body was found around 6:30 a.m. at the Coon Bluff Recreation Site, about 25 miles from Mesa, according to Sgt. Brandon Jones.
The body has been turned over to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office for identification.
Williams disappeared on Sunday while tubing the Salt River with 15 friends. The group had been floating on several inner tubes that were tied together, but Williams apparently untied his.
Jones admits that deputies are scaling down their search for Williams.
