Downtown Phoenix’s landmark Professional Building will reopen its doors as a midpriced hotel in December but developers said they were keeping some of the original elements.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to restore this iconic building to its original glory,” Steve Schlundt, chief operating officer of CSM Lodging/Residential, said in an article on the corporation’s website.
The Art Deco building at on Central Avenue and Monroe Street has been made over into a Hilton Garden Inn.
“We are committed to preserving its beauty and grandeur, and in creating a truly unique experience for our guests,” Schludnt said.
The outside of the building will look “nearly identical to its predecessor, with its striking limestone façade, grand entryways and Art Deco architecture,” according to the article.
CSM Corporation purchased the site in December 2013, and has since been working to restore the skyscraper that was built in 1932, as reported by Downtown Phoenix, Inc.
