A bloody and unconscious 14-year-old Mesa girl was found in a park Tuesday afternoon by a Valley Metro bus driver, police said.
The girl was found at the park near Center St. and Broadway, along with the 14-year-old suspect who was seen nearby, mopping up blood.
“When he was confronted by the bus driver, he picked up the girl and kind of dragged her outside into the grassy area and then fell down next to her and was laying in the grass next to her while the bus driver was calling all this in,” said Mesa Police Sgt. Tony Landato. “He appeared to be intoxicated.”
The girl is currently recovering in a local hospital.
The boy was arrested on the scene and charged with sexual assault and aggravated assault.
