Sky Harbor opens security fast lane in Terminal 4

PHOENIX — The TSA has opened up its fast lane through airport security at Sky Harbor Terminal 4.
No more taking off the shoes and belts, pulling out the laptops or losing liquids in the carryon for many passengers.
Nico Melendez with the TSA said for now the program applies to US Airways frequent fliers with enough miles or individuals who have cleared the background checks and paid a $20 a year fee in the federal trusted traveler programs.
“We have information on the frequent fliers. We know where they’re going and we know where they’ve been. So it gives us more confidence on who’s coming through security checkpoints.”
For now Sky Harbor is only express security lane is at Terminal 4 but there are plans to expand the program here.
Ken Krampitz of Scottsdale is a frequent US Airways passenger.
“I’ll try it out and see what happens but I won’t have to take my shoes off or take the laptop out of the case. I’m not sure how much time it will save me but it will save some hassle factor.
And Cheryl Patterson of New York said it definitely is a plus for men because the hold things up because they wear more shoes with laces.
“Most women will be OK but the men will save a lot of time.”
