Arizona Humane Society, Groupon offer pet deal

Groupon, the discount website known for deals on sushi, day spas, maybe hotels, but pets?

Bretta Nelson with the Arizona Humane Society said that a partnership with Groupon will help ease overcrowding at the animal facility.

For $25 you get full adoption fees covered on dogs, puppies or critters, which normally costs $160. Cats are excluded because of a summerlong promotion that waives fees on cats in exchange for a small donation.

“It was a lot of work between Groupon and the Humane Society to come up with an offer that was really thoughtful in an effort to reach that new audience,” Nelson said. “It’s been a huge, huge success.”

Nelson said that the number of incoming pets doubles in the summer.
