A rise in overall prices from 2011 to 2012 in Phoenix is the third-highest increase in the nation, a study said.
According to numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 2.8 percent increase in prices was tied for third out of 27 metropolitan areas in the United States.
Phoenix energy prices rose 5.5 percent in the last year, led only by a 7.2 percent increase in gas prices.
Even excluding the jumps of energy and gas, all other goods rose an overage of 2.5 percent in the past year.
Phoenix was well ahead of the national curve, which was a 1.4 percent increase in prices over the last 12 months.
