People crossing state lines to get in on Powerball jackpot

People are crossing state lines to buy Powerball tickets, as the lottery game is offering a $320 million jackpot.

Store clerk Karen Beck, who works at Rosie’s Den in White Hills, Ariz., near the Arizona-Nevada border, said a wide variety of Nevada players cross state lines for Arizona tickets.

“We probably go through about ten [customers] every ten minutes that are all from Nevada,” she said. “Anywhere from someone spending $20 all the way up to $1,000.”

Beck said players of all ages are getting involved in the game.

“It varies from 21 — they’re just legal to do it — up to 70 years old,” she said.

Many players are letting the machine pick numbers for them.

The drawing is at 10:25 p.m.
