Valley residents partaking in Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day

Aug 1, 2012, 12:53 PM | Updated: 9:15 pm

Fans of Chick-fil-A were lining up outside Valley locations on Wednesday for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

The event was organized by supporters of the chain, which recently came under fire when its president, Dan Cathy, spoke out against gay marriage.

“Everybody in this country has a right to believe what they want to believe and if they believe that if something is wrong or immoral, they have the right to stand up and say it,” said Chick-fil-A supporter Danny Norcott, adding that he can make his own decision on the issues.

Gay organizations had called for a boycott of the chain.

“You have the right to say what you believe, and I think it’s very hypocritical of the left to never have tolerance for conservative people speaking their values,” said one customer.

Other supports also said they were there to support small business owners.

“[We’re here] to stand up for small business rights to chose what they want to do and who they want to contribute to,” said Shawn Bishop. “We’re here to support a small business owner making his own decision.”

Some restaurants were so busy that they ran out of food and were forced to close for the day.

Chick-fil-A said in a statement that the restaurant appreciates all of its customers and it looks forward to serving them at any time.

We want to hear from you.
