PHOENIX — Officials are offering a reward up to $20,000 for information on multiple shootings along Interstate 10 in Phoenix.
The state Silent Witness program originally offered $5,000, but the reward was upped Tuesday after an off-duty Phoenix police sergeant may have been targeted. The officer said he was driving his own car to work when a side window shattered. The unidentified sergeant said he was near the 35th Avenue exit.
He was unharmed.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said it wasn’t sure yet whether there had been a shooting or if something else hit and broke the window.
DPS has confirmed at least four separate shootings along the highway that runs through the heart of Phoenix. One person suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
Two shootings were on eastbound lanes between 19th and 59th avenues. A third attack happened on eastbound lanes. The fourth shooting was reported shortly after.
