PHOENIX — An English pub in the Valley is ready to roll out the bangers and brews for the Olympic Games in England.
The Valley’s first British pub, George and Dragon, located on Central Avenue near Indian School Road is planning an Olympics opening-ceremony viewing party today that starts at 6:30 p.m.
General manager Jeff Young said he expects a 50 percent boost in customers over the typical day.
“We have bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, Ploughman’s Lunch,” he said. “Twenty-five beers on tap, another 60 in the cooler. A lot of them are European, many of them are English.”
Donna Cameron from Manchester, England will be among the customers.
“Words can’t describe how excited I am to have those games in London,” she said.
Not surprisingly, soccer has captured her attention the most.
“Soccer for you Americans and footie [football] for us Brits,” said Cameron.
