Phoenix car accident kills 1

PHOENIX — A man has died in an overnight car accident at 31st Avenue and Encanto Boulevard.
According to Phoenix Police, at about 4:20 a.m. Thursday the unidentified man was speeding in a car that had been reported stolen when he rammed into concrete barriers after failing to negotiate a right turn at 31st Avenue.
The car went airborne, clearing a seven-foot fence and landing in a dirt lot, where it burst into flames. The driver died at the scene.
For now, the intersection is closed in all directions, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
