Convicted felon arrested after punching officer

A 19-year-old Mexican national who barricaded himself inside of a Phoenix apartment on Tuesday has been arrested, police said.
The suspect, identified as Victor Mauricio Ruelas-Rodriguez, was first contacted by police during a traffic stop Monday around 11:00 p.m.
During the stop, Ruelas-Rodriguez failed to provide identification and the officer began to arrest him. The suspect punched the officer in the face and fled.
Ruelas-Rodriguez was later found in his apartment near 32nd Street and McDowell.
Ruelas-Rodriguez, a convicted felon, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, escape and failing to provide identification while driving a motor vehicle.
