PHOENIX — A portion of the U.S. 93 project has earned one of the top transportation awards in the country.
The highway stretch from Hoover Dam to Milepost 17 was named regional winner of the America’s Transportation Awards for best use of innovation by the American Associated of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
The Arizona Department of Transportation project competed in medium projects, which ranges from $26 million to $199 million. Improvements included a crossing for desert bighorn sheep.
According to the department, the area is home to the largest contiguous herd of desert bighorn sheep in America.
