Arizona is getting some extra funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to improve energy-efficiency efforts in water-treatment facilities.
Lisa Henderson with the Governor’s Office of Energy Policy said the $715,000 grant will help put the most up-to-date standards in facilities and save money.
“We’re looking at 50 wastewater facilities in Arizona,” she said. “It would be really great to see at least a 30 to 40 percent energy reduction in those places.”
The grant was awarded through a competitive program.
Arizona is one of 23 states to receive the grant money.
