Phoenix among cheapest cities to visit in US

Americans looking for an affordable vacation should make
their way to the Valley of the Sun, according to a
financial magazine website.

According to Kiplinger.com
, Phoenix is the cheapest city to visit in the country
when it comes to travel prices.

The financial website found dining costs and airfare to
Phoenix, coupled with affordable hotel room rates, make
the Valley a good place to stretch your dollar.

“We have a very diverse product,” said Kristen Jarnagin,
Vice President of Communications for the Arizona Lodging
and Tourism Association. “Whether you’re here on business,
on a budget, with the family or looking a luxury
experience, we really have a wide variety of
accommodations.”

The average meal in Phoenix costs $34.61, flight costs are
below the national average and hotels charge 17 percent
less than similar cities.

“We are so spread out and there are so many places to
stay, that there is so much supply out there,” Jarnigan
said. “From our ultra-posh hotels to limited service
properties, we really have it all; a huge variety.”

Some major factors attracting people to Phoenix are the
four professional sports teams, big-name museums and the
outdoor-activity options.

According to Kiplinger, the must-see feature in the
Phoenix area is the Heard Museum.
