By late July, there will be a new way to pay for parking in downtown Phoenix.
Users will be able to pay for parking via an app downloaded to a smartphone. When users get to the Cityscape parking garage, they simply punch in a number and park their car.
Michael Reitblat of Pango Mobile Parking said there are other advantages to the app. For example, when users go to a Diamondbacks game, they can get special offers sent to their phone.
“When the restaurants see that the Diamondbacks are winning, they can send a message to everyone: ‘Hey, you get 50 percent off on wings because the Diamondbacks won,’ ” he said.
Users will have to register their license plate and credit card with the app.
The app is available for download, but it won’t be operational until July 25.
