Phoenix energy program will pay users to save power

PHOENIX — The City of Phoenix is pushing a program to get businesses and homeowners to be more energy efficient.
Dimitrios Laloudakis said beginning Saturday, the Energize Phoenix program will pay people up to $3,000 in rebates if they save energy.
“Energize Phoenix is a federally-funded program that provides incentives for both residential and commercial energy-efficient upgrades along the light-rail corridor,” he said.
Residents can take advantage of the rebates by performing various upgrades, said Aubrey Anaya with the City of Phoenix. Upgrading water heaters and insulation or simply adding sunshades to a a home counts, said Anaya.
“We leverage APS incentives to provide additional grant money to encourage folks to do energy-efficient upgrades, said Laloudakis.
